Our aim is to provide you with information about pathology testing that you can rely on as being accurate and authoritative.

Pathology Tests Explained is a not-for profit organisation and is funded principally by the Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (AACB), one of pathology’s peak bodies representing many of the professionals who work in laboratories. Funding is occasionally contributed by other pathology societies and government.  All funding is provided without any conditions attached.

We do not accept or post any advertising.  As a result, we are able to provide independent evidence-based information that is free from political or commercial interest.

The site is accredited by and complies with the international standards of the Health On the Net (HON) foundation

Who writes the information?

Information on Pathology Tests Explained has been written by practising pathologists and scientists including some of Australia’s leading experts who work in public or private pathology laboratories or hold appointments with professional societies. The content is written by these professionals in their personal capacity and vetted by the Editor in Chief and manager of the website.

Some of the laboratories for whom our contributors work are commercial entities, but the process is transparent, their business interests are known, they have no influence on the information being provided and there are no conflicts of interest.

All scientific information is directed and coordinated by our Editor in Chief, Dr John Beilby.
