Reference intervals or ranges (previously called "normal' values) are dependent on many factors, including patient age, gender, sample population and test method, and numeric test results can have different meanings in different laboratories. For these reasons, you will not find reference Intervals for most of the tests described on this web site. For some tests a Reference Interval will be shown. This is a so-called Harmonised Reference Interval where all laboratories have agreed to conduct their testing in a similar way so that every laboratory can adopt the same Interval. The laboratory report containing your test results should include the specific reference Interval for your test(s). Please consult your doctor or the laboratory that performed the test(s) to obtain the reference interval if you do not have the laboratory report or cannot find it on our site. For more information on reference Intervals, please read Reference Intervals – an overview.
